Senior Water Treatment Systems Manager (Half Moon Cay, Bahamas)

About the role

The Senior Water Treatment Systems Manager supports multiple destinations and oversees the Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant and the wastewater treatment system at Half Moon Cay, Eleuthera. The role sets long-term vision, drives performance, ensures regulatory compliance and promotes operational excellence, collaborating across departments to improve processes and protect water quality.

Key responsibilities

• Lead operations and maintenance of potable water systems (RO plants), including long-term plans for capacity and water quality monitoring, and provide high-level technical guidance during ship calls and peak periods.
• Lead emergency response and hurricane readiness planning, and coordinate repairs and contractor work.
• Oversee annual maintenance plans, spare parts inventory, preventive maintenance programs and wastewater treatment compliance, including sludge handling and laboratory testing.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports, track KPIs, manage operating budgets and support procurement of chemicals, spare parts and equipment.
• Lead and mentor the Water Systems team, set 24/7 schedules, run performance evaluations and enforce HESS policies.
• Ensure compliance with Bahamian environmental regulations, coordinate inspections and audits, and support EIA and EMP work.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, chemical or mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Experience managing SWRO systems and/or biological wastewater treatment; 10+ years in water treatment, desalination or wastewater operations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; physically fit, able to work outdoors and stand for long periods; shift work may be required at destinations.

Required skills

• Membrane technology, pretreatment systems and high-pressure pump operation.
• Knowledge of activated sludge, MBR or MBBR processes.
• Proficiency with BluMetric systems, PLCs and process instrumentation.
• Ability to read P&IDs, technical manuals and laboratory results.
