Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Deputy CEO)

About the role

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer acts as the principal execution leader of the organisation and the CEO’s primary partner in delivering strategic, operational, commercial and financial objectives. The role oversees the core revenue‑generating businesses, ensures alignment across units and translates board‑approved priorities into measurable outcomes, freeing the CEO to focus on growth, risk, capital and transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Support the CEO in overall leadership and management of the company.
• Drive execution of the strategic plan and annual business objectives, aligning corporate strategy with departmental and individual goals.
• Lead initiatives that enhance profitability, efficiency, productivity and shareholder value.
• Oversee core client‑facing businesses – Investment Banking, Wealth Management, Trading & Brokerage, Treasury & Financial Institutions – to grow revenue and market share.
• Monitor business performance against budgets, identify revenue‑enhancement opportunities and ensure effective cross‑selling.
• Lead enterprise‑wide implementation of board‑approved strategic projects and maintain mechanisms to track delivery.
• Act as Acting CEO when required and represent the company internally and externally as delegated.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience, preferably within financial services or a related sector.
• Proven track record of translating strategy into execution and delivering measurable business results.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing revenue‑generating units.
• Ability to foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and client‑centricity.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of representing the organisation at senior levels.
