About the role
The Director of Finance for the Margaritaville Beach Resort Nassau oversees all budgeting, forecasting, profit‑and‑loss reporting, and account reconciliation activities for both operating and balance‑sheet accounts. This executive‑level position directly manages accounting functions such as income auditing, cashiering, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax compliance, payroll and month‑end processing, ensuring strong financial controls and profitability.
Key responsibilities
- Verify accuracy and timeliness of daily and month‑end finance functions, including payroll, income audit, and cash management.
- Lead comprehensive month‑end close, preparing journal entries, accruals, cost‑of‑sales entries and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
- Develop the annual operating plan aligned with the resort’s strategic direction and drive financial goal achievement.
- Provide analytical tools and support to department heads during budget preparation and monthly forecasting.
- Analyze variances between actual, forecasted and budgeted performance and advise the GM and executive team on financial issues.
- Manage capital‑expense budgeting, internal and city audit processes, and ensure proper tax collection and reconciliation.
- Foster strong professional relationships with the management team, delivering counsel that enhances financial acumen.
- Lead, coach and develop a cross‑trained finance team, setting high performance standards and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with at least five years of finance leadership experience, preferably in hotel or similar hospitality settings.
- Proven ability to perform numerical analysis, develop forecasts, and present complex financial concepts clearly.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills, with a track record of building motivated, cross‑trained accounting teams.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of conducting effective meetings and presentations.
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours as business needs dictate.
Required skills
- Microsoft Office suite, especially advanced Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- POS/PMS systems proficiency.
