Customs Broker Agent

About the role

As a Customs Broker Agent at DHL Express, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating smooth international trade. You will ensure that all import and export shipments comply with customs regulations, government requirements, and DHL’s internal standards, helping to move goods safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit all required customs documentation for import, export, and transshipment procedures.
• Classify shipments using complex customs codes and manage electronic submissions.
• Maintain accurate records, both electronic and manual, and perform data entry in platforms such as Islander.
• Interact with customs officials, government agencies, DHL departments, and customers on customs‑related matters.
• Stay updated on changes to customs laws, regulations, and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Generate reports on duties, tariffs, fees, and taxes for cost‑management purposes.
• Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and advise on document requirements.
• Monitor daily logs of shipments, clearance activities, and any delays or irregularities.
• Assist consignees with duty calculations, paperwork queries, and resolve issues with dangerous or suspect shipments.

Required profile

• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer service.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of customs regulations and import/export procedures.

Required skills

• Experience using customs‑related software platforms (e.g., Islander).
• Competence with standard computer applications and data‑entry tools.
