Senior SQL DB Technician

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to lead the administration, optimization, security, and availability of mission‑critical Microsoft SQL Server databases across our insurance and financial services organization.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain SQL Server environments, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patch management.
• Design, implement, and test backup, recovery, and disaster‑recovery strategies to meet RTO and RPO targets.
• Monitor and optimize database performance using tools such as SSMS, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, and execution‑plan analysis.
• Configure and support high‑availability solutions like Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, and Log Shipping.
• Manage data integration tasks with SSIS and ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor junior DBAs, and collaborate with developers, infrastructure, and business teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience administering enterprise‑scale Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Proven track record in performance tuning, backup/recovery, and high‑availability implementations.

• Microsoft SQL Server (2016, 2019, 2022 or later)
• T‑SQL development, stored procedures, functions, and query optimization
• SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Agent, Database Engine Tuning Advisor
• Always On Availability Groups, Replication, Log Shipping, Failover Clustering
• SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI
• PowerShell and SQL scripting for automation
• Azure SQL Database and cloud‑based database services (preferred)
