Kitchen Steward

About the role

The Kitchen Steward is responsible for washing, sanitizing, and storing all kitchen equipment, maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen and back‑of‑house areas, and supporting overall sanitation efforts during the assigned shift.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize pots, dishes, silverware and other utensils according to standards.
• Utilize correct cleaning agents for designated items.
• Keep storage racks, counters, walls and closets clean.
• Clean all floor areas in the kitchen, dining room, and other back‑of‑house areas using prescribed chemicals, supplies and equipment.
• Clean mobile and stationary equipment, including mats.
• Ensure items are air‑dried before storage and maintain organized supply closets.
• Store wares neatly and rotate stock for regular use.
• Remove trash to dumpster, empty and clean containers and compactors according to standards.
• Organize breakdown area for soiled wares and restock work areas for the next shift.
