HVAC / Refrigeration Mechanic

About the role

The Ocean Club, a Four Seasons Resort in Paradise Island, Bahamas, is looking for an HVAC / refrigeration mechanic. The position covers day-to-day maintenance and repair of the property's air conditioning, chilled water fan coil units, air handling units, walk-in coolers, freezers, fridges, ice machines and plumbing systems, under the direction of Engineering Management. The resort operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain all chilled water fan coil units in guest rooms, air handling units in public areas, and walk-in coolers, freezers and fridges throughout the property.
• Maintain all ice machines and keep plumbing systems in good repair with minimal downtime.
• Troubleshoot equipment, evacuate refrigerant systems, replace components including compressors, close up, pull a vacuum and charge units.
• Train and instruct other staff, and share knowledge to help them develop.
• Keep work areas clean, report to duty on time in uniform, follow company policies and fire and safety procedures, and attend training and meetings when required.
• Communicate with supervisors so materials, tools and supplies are available, and follow up on back-ordered items.

Required profile

• Ability to read safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, and to write routine reports and logs.
• Ability to speak effectively with customers and colleagues.
• Legal ability to work in the Bahamas without sponsorship; the position is based at The Ocean Club in the Bahamas.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, as business needs may shift shifts and weekly hours may vary.
